A Better Sleeping Place
Dogs left to sleep on hard or uncomfortable surfaces may dig to provide themselves with a softer bed.
If your dog digs into the carpet when you are not there because he would rather rest somewhere he can see you coming home or have a view, try moving his bed to the place where he digs instead (although be prepared for him to dig his bed to pieces if he is digging for a different reason!).
If your dog digs and treads down vegetation in the garden to get comfortable, consider bringing him inside to rest or, if you must leave him outside, provide him with a warm, soft bed in a sheltered location where he can rest comfortably.
